A second sortie for the Surete's Monsieur Pinaud, who has a Lady Bluebeard (six husbands- six insurance policies) to apprehend before she does away with another, takes him to a small French village. Wavering between two recent middle-aged brides, Pinaud's infallible instinct leads him to still another unexpected femme fatale.... This probably depends on your liking for its detective-you must be patient with Pinaud, who while decorous, is also deliberate.
