M. Pinaud's passion for justice could not halt at the hated and feared boundary of the Algerian settlement in Arbon. His vacation there became a busman's holiday as the detective from the French Surete set out to fight City Hall in freeing the young Algerian who was being held for a murder he did not commit. Fast action and occasional comedy provide the contrast to the race tragedy that was transatlantic echoes.
