THE PRAYER OF ALL THINGS

(DR) The things of the world were created by God for the proper use of men to achieve their salvation. Yet too often they have been deprecated as hindrances to sanctity. Father Pierre Charles here offers a guide to prayer -- meditation, especially -- which will be welcomed by all who have found concentration on abstract spiritual concepts exclusively very difficult, frustrating and frequently unsatisfying. He shows how men are meant to be led to God by things. His method is to take a selection from the Gospels which pertains to a thing and then to offer reflections on how these objects have been sanctified and laden with blessings and divine inspiration by the Word. Some of the topics: Put on Thy Shoes; She Mingled Her Wine, In the Sweat of Thy Face; The Bodies of Your Faithful. This is indeed an exceptional aid to making one's prayer-life more fruitful and useful. In this, his last book, Father Charles has left a legacy which will be shared by grateful Christians.
