best known for his Christ in Concrete, wrote a biography of Mother in (McGraw Hill), and this is again chiefly religious in its lnspiration and designation. This is the story of Maria, or Maricita, Goretti, a young girl of exceptional beauty and purity whose short life was terminated by as act of lust- her attempted rape and at the of , a young man who lived with the family in the Marshes whose the sharecropped for a count at the turn of the century. The first part with the crime; approaches, his as and her murder with a brush book. Maria died a day later, forgiving him. The second half with long imprisonment, until 1929, the gradual spirit pause, and finally his release to become a gardener in a monastery. Maria was in Donato, an always fervid writer, has retold her story for a primarily Catholic audience.
