THE FORGOTTEN ALLY by Plerre Van Paen

THE FORGOTTEN ALLY

By

Publisher: Dial

In view of the delays in receiving this book, we have a chance to review not only the book itself (which we found absorbing reading) but the reviews in the metropolitan mediums. We find ourselves in virtual agreement with Edgar Mowrer in the Herald-Tribune, though acknowledging Mr. Duffus' charge that the argument is one-sided. It is a provocative, controversial book which advances skillfully, convincingly, dramatically, the case for Zionism and for insuring the maintaining of Palestine as the Jewish homeland. Mr. Van Paassen goes back into history, shows not only what was done, but how the myths grew up to contradict the action. He lays blame on the shoulders of Britain's Colonial Office for the present empasse. And he shows the contribution Palestinian Jews have made to the war-the contribution they cam make to a progressive Near East.
