A FAMILY FOR SARAH ANN

Most little girls go through a period of being convinced they are foundlings, orphans or changelings. And the result is an almost sure fascination found in a story about such a child. But Sarah Ann was different. She didn't know she was a foundling; she did know she was loved; that is until she met Linda, who was spoiled, selfish, arrogant- and resistant to the idea of Sarah Ann coming to Boston to live with the Whitmann in Boston. Sarah Ann wanted to be friends, but it was an uphill task, with many setbacks. Many of the characters- young and old- are credible, but Sarah Ann herself is a stock figure, always on the side of the angels- and in the end victorious. A pleasant, somewhat little story- but the foundling element is a passport to acceptance.
