THIS IS A TOWN

This is a lovely book to look at...It's easy to read. The pictures are fresh, original, tasteful, beautifully organized. And they are amusing as well. It shows how a ""big open space...with deep woods, open fields, high hills and valleys, a big lake and a little brook"" becomes over the years a community, with a fire station, a school, many homes, factories and stores. Children in most schools spend some portion of first or second grade studying their own community. So this complements curriculum for initial readers and is a real pleasure as well.
