RACHEL OF ROMNEY

Rachel was a lamb who became, more or less accidentally, a family pet. The two children who felt they owned her, even when she had to be sold to others, were themselves active, working members of a farm household, so this is primarily a picture of English farm life, through not too rosy spectacles. Leisurely, very English.
