An over-fragile, sentimental English story about a ten-year-old girl, her donkey, Biddy, and a Christmas message. Jan Martin is overjoyed when her father buys a pretty grey donkey for her to ride on the Martin farm. From the housekeeper she learns the lovely Bible legends about donkeys and after a mysterious dream ""conversation"" with Biddy on Christmas Eve,, she discovers the true meaning of Christmas and gives her dearest possession, Biddy to a young friend. Biddy, however, would soon have been too small for her to ride on, and since she inherits her brother's pony, her Christmas happiness is complete. Altogether too much squeezing, kissing, hugging, and high-strung capers for most stolid ten-year-olds but atmospheric for Christmas.
