KIRKUS REVIEW

Another Dr. Thorndyke story, with the reliable extra careful analysis, and everything fair, square and aboveboard. For those who like to have all the men on the board, so to speak, these Thorndyke mysteries are tops; the average reader who wants a bit more pace and action, finds them a trifle tedious. There's a fire, an unknown corpse, who proves to have been dead before the fire -- and Thorndyke to the rescue.
