KIRKUS REVIEW

A second novel by the author of THE LADY WHO CAME TO STAY. It should be called THE GENTLEMAN WHO CAME TO STAY, for it is a story of a father who settles on his newly married daughter and her husband, and almost succeeds in wrecking their marriage. It is a story of defeat, is difficult reading, and is too slight in plot to carry through its three hundred pages of involved style and nebulous background.
