Here is another Adventure in Retirement (1964, p. 938) for those who are also a bit west of the dateline--""I am writing about the no longer quite so spry rather than of the gilded youth and maides gay who also go on pleasure cruises."" Mr. Duffus and wife steam out of San Francisco and manage, when not beset by costume nights, amateur shows and bridge lessons, to visit Hawaii: Yokahama, Nikko and Tokyo, Japan: Hong Kong--""like an exciting adventure story that doesn't quite convince you""; Manila, Zamboanga, Philippines; Port Moresby, New Guinea; Sydney, Australia; Wellington, New Zealand; Fiji, Samoa, Bora Bora. Tahiti and last Los Angeles. Again, there's no attempt at travel book statistics, logistics and tipsmanship. Just a few low-geared comments about not dashing out to climb M Fuji if you haven't tried the fox trot in years. It's companionable with enough scenery to make this audience want to get up and go.
