GREY SEAL, COMMON SEAL

A Survival Book under the editorship of Colin Willock is an account of the life histories of British seals, specifically, the grey and the common. Behavior from birthing through breeding, population and vital statistics, distribution and numbers, predators and mortality, the relation of seals and man are covered. Mr. Lockley also comments on the intelligence of seals as observed in various individuals in a more domestic situation. His conclusion: ""They are, I think, a happy people."" Their survival depends in part on a balance between their interests and those of the fishing industry. Essentially for an interested readership: no particular extension for the general audience, although not too technical.
