BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO THE SKIES

To the amateur astronomer, this brief handbook extends an invitation as well as the most basic information on what to observe when. It is based on Olcott's Field Book of the Skies, and the charts which are used are taken from this book which is recommended for further study. With the naked eye, or a binocular, the beginner will learn to recognize the chief constellations, the brightest stars, Sputniks, meteors and clusters, the moon and the planets, as well as certain phenomena of the heavens- and the tabulation at the close lists, alphabetically, the constellations and provides note on their seasonal appearance, location, character and special details.
