An ingratiating novel of modern New Delhi swirls about the matter of marriage by love and/or arrangement. Intelligent and educated, Amrita falls in love with Hari, a youth who works at the radio station where she does. But Hari is undecided-knowing he is beneath Amrita in social position; and as both their families move to intercept, Amrita discovers her affection for a more appropriate young lawyer. An enjoyable, soft-hearted satire.
