KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of Roman Britain (1964, 9, J-9) and other sound historical books presents a detailed account of the Anglo-Saxons who roamed in tribes and settled in England about 400 A.D. Mr. Sellman discusses the tribal organization, paganism, the advent of Christianity and other developments in readable language. The political, relig, and geographical maps and diagrams are excellent. Slanted toward students with a tish background, the book is nevertheless a good inexpensive source for ancient history information. Double columns and small print make the book less manageable.
