JUDAISM SPEAKS TO THE MODERN WORLD by Rabbi Israel H. Levinthal

JUDAISM SPEAKS TO THE MODERN WORLD

Pub Date: Oct. 15th, 1963

This series of sermons and addresses is prefaced by a denial of Toynbee's claim that Judaism is an ""outworn civilization"". The flourishing body of Rabbinic literature is cited as one proof of the error of this judgment. The sermons themselves add force to Rabbi Levinthal's denial. Based on careful exposition of Biblical passages and Rabbinic commentary, they are concerned with a vital ethical life in the midst of contemporary personal and social conditions. Beyond the Jewish community, to whom they are addressed, they should speak to all who are concerned with these.
