POEMS

Piping childhood's refrains, Rachel Field found reason for rhyme in hurdy gurdys and music boxes, Christmas trees and bedtime prayers. Her even rhythms and clear expressions of mood and memory make a charming collection of verses with selections to please children of all ages. The black and white silhouettes which illustrate the book were done by the author. They attenuate the spirit and attitudes --now fey, now wistful of her poetry. A welcome reissue.
