For the disabled and the people who live with them, a practical encyclopedia of helpful appliances and suggestions that covers the field of rehabilitation therapeutics from eating to getting around away from home. In compiling their material, the authors who work with the Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the New York University-Bellevue Medical center have combined popular common sense psychology and solid mechanical information to make a readable volume for the layman. Principles of variety and interest, developing self assurance, and doing things with the least amount of energy are sensibly stressed in chapters on dressing, keeping up appearances, re-mastering former skills such as typing, writing or telephoning, in a different way, getting around the house and the kitchen, seeing and playing with other people.
