A 5-year-old girl uses her imagination in this picture book.
Mia, a White girl with brown hair, spends a lot of time at home with her parents. But, she says, “if I use my imagination, I can create a world….Every day, I create an extraordinary story.” The girl chronicles the scenarios she conjures each day. For example, on Sunday in the bathtub, “I imagined I was swimming with mermaids and sea creatures.” Picnicking at the park on Monday, Mia “found a secret world of fairies. They were taking care of the flowers and taught me how to fly!” On Wednesday, her dolls and toys helped her clean up her messy room. During dinner on Saturday, Mia “imagined the vegetables were jumping, dancing, and exercising on the plate.” Finally, she asks readers which day’s adventure they enjoyed the most and implores: “What shall I imagine tomorrow?” Young readers who also spend time at home will relate to Mia’s bracing spirit. Rakefet Zahor Dahan’s tale underscores the importance of imagination and ambition. Lior Dahan’s colorful, animated illustrations utilize bright colors and fun imagery. The lively scenes often show Mia’s dreamy escapades, as when she visits a “magical amusement park” and rides a unicorn in the clouds, surrounded by a rainbow, a smiling sun, and fantasy beings. Some images offer clever elements, like a two-page spread of a spiral notebook featuring Mia’s mementos and photographs.
A cheerful and upbeat tale about a child’s creativity.
