KIRKUS REVIEW

A polite British approach to several booby traps for murder and an actual killing which sets some antique skeletons jangling. Colonel Chaplin, a newly arrived constable, is confronted with the secretive Ellenbys whose distasteful tenant openly asks for killing and manages to turn their protective tall tales into tentative truth. Family history and past and present scandals all add up to lightly lethal doings.
