WHO FOUGHT AND BLED by Ralph Beebe

WHO FOUGHT AND BLED

By

Publisher: Coward, McCann

A segment of the War of 1812, when Boston-Harvard Hale, heir to property in the west (Dayton, Ohio), goes out there with Buck Stark as a partner, and finds a great divergence in opinions about the war - and the need to fight fir their lands. Hale, with his eastern ways, lands in trouble all along the way -- from which Buck's them. When the war comes, they both join the Scouts and as non-professional soldiers, see the war from a special angle, hear the discontent with Hull and his story procedure, with his methods, with the government, with the East and its British lovers. Buck acts as spy and courier -- keeping an eye on Hale and helps him escape from an Indian invasion. No romance, more an account of facts, campaigns, still east versus west, the ""millshy"" and the Army. Better for men, I'd say.
