This uneven account, written at a junior high school cadence, begins with the sensational use of cameras for violent journalistic and war reporting and concludes on the same pitch. In between, the author describes the early history of cameras and details the research in the development of film--but only up to the beginnings of Kodak. Although some attention is paid to the development of motion pictures and contemporary films, the newer processes, such as color and polaroid, are barely discussed. The camera as we know it today is included in brief outline summary. The suggested reading is a selective bibliography with 4 photography magazines annotated ""issued monthly."" A long list of camera manufacturers is also appended.
