The latest re-presentation of the Bates theory of ""visual re-education"", as expounded by a practitioner thereof (Huxley's Art of Seeing was from the point of view of the convert-patient) this again argues that if there is no nerve tension, there is no muscle tension- the eye is at rest and therefore has normal vision. Believing that 90% of vision is mental rather than physical, here are the many techniques, sun therapy, palming, exercises, mental drills, all of which can be extended to a total cure even in cases of cataract, glaucoma detached retina, etc. Psychosomatic in its origins, this particular curative faith excludes the fact that eye defects may be structural or organic. And such statements as ""The near-sighted person is an introvert... The far sighted person ... an extravert"" seem highly dubious.
