Chatty conversational reporting for the memoirs of Albert Benton Snyder, better known as the cowboy Pinnacle Jake. Born in 1872, a native of Nebraska, he was raised on a cattle ranch and for forty five years owned his own ranch. His memories include all manner of cowboy experiences from mending fences to diverting stampedes. He is devoted to his animals, to the plains and mountains around him, and holds to his faith that things come right in the long run. The flow of reminiscence holds little of compelling interest except for those steeped in cowboy lore and interested in first hand material. Possibly there is factual value as a segment of Americana; the feelings of work progress, the love of nature and men, are authentic, and the overall gives a detailed picture of cowboy life at the end of a century.
