WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY

There is need for a good book on the War of 1812, I am told, and this is a bit above average, though it packs enough suspense and incident and plot for several books, and might be better written. However, it is a hearty tale, of the adventures of one Clif Barney, from the time he shipped as mate on the Abigail as she ran the British blockade, through his impressment into British service, culminating in Perry's victory on Lake Erie. A tough of romance may give some appeal for girls.
