THE COMPLETE BOOK OF FURNITURE REPAIR AND REFINISHING

A work manual, covering in greater detail the step by step methods not only for repairing and restoring antiques, but of making the best of the unpainted modern furniture to be found in department stores. Based on personal experience and checked by teachers and manufacturers for accuracy, this should be very valuable as a High School shop manual, as well as the answer to prayer of the amateur who wants to do the best job possible on restoration, repair and refinishing. With a few words of warning as to going too far and too fast -- and a few words of advice on how to use his book, Mr. Kinney then goes systematically through each phase involved. How to select antiques- how to test their value- how to remove old finish, to prepare the wood for refinishing, how to restore old finishes. Then he goes into materials- tools- paints and brushes- formulae for finishes, stains, waxes, etc.
