THE GINGERBREAD RABBIT

A mother's desire to do something for her only child leads to the formation of a large gingerbread rabbit, who, after a few words with the mixing bowl and a paring knife, runs off to find peace in the forest. Mother follows, close behind, but the rabbit escapes after chats with a squirrel and a fox. The mother weeps, but returns home and makes a stuffed rabbit which Little Mary loves on sight. It's all rather sweet and more than a little precious, but the artist's illustrations are distinguished as ever.
