KIRKUS REVIEW

The second book in the Our World Series offers an informative text, undermined by dull illustrations. Used as a handbook on any beach ""expedition"", this covers questions children ask about the sea and its environs from ""What makes the ocean salty?"" to ""Where does it go when it goes away?"" The book also explores matters outside direct experience such as the existence of coral gardens beneath the sea, animals that live in the sea and treasures that await the expert diver. There are a myriad of books on this subject for young children that should take precedence over this new addition.
