KIRKUS REVIEW

In format- and title- this looks younger than it actually is, so be sure to spot it as a serious vocational book, for the teens. We are putting it at this age level because interest in authentic facts about the sea certainly belongs with the lower teens, and here is a potpourri of data. Types of ships and their uses, duties and training of ship's officers, modern equipment, navy codes and flags (in color), semaphore signals, insignia, ship's lights, whistle signals, etc., etc. A career at sea in a cockleshell.
