KIRKUS REVIEW

The author, professor of Church History at Duke University, writes out of a specialized knowledge of the pre-Reformation era. He is endeavoring to show how the great churchmen of that period conceived of the Christian ministry and how inter-related even then were preaching, teaching, community service and worship. It is a book which will be of particular interest to those interested in the history of preaching, -- to teachers and students in the field of homiletics and church history.
