THE AMERICAN MOTHER GOOSE

American folk songs in the making, -- children's rhymes, game songs, counting songs, nonsense jingles, and so on, a veritable Mother Goose American version. Some are familiar, some depart a bit from what I had thought of as the accepted version. There's sectional interest and definite Americana value, all of which gives it an adult appeal. The foreword by John A. Lomax, curator of folk songs at the Library of Congress, establishes the authenticity and value. The Ed Hargis drawings are completely satisfactory, striking again the folk quality of the material.
