EVERY DAY IS A WORLD

A talking reindeer who explains that the points on his antlers number his birthdays, and a chattery blue jay who feels misunderstood entertain Nathan, a young boy who plays in his back yard. These diminutive stores are easy to read. But they are characterless and indefinite. Mary Chalmers has done the black and white illustrations with a hesitant, almost amateurish quality, whose mildness may appeal to some children, but probably not to the majority.
