THE BOYS' BOOK OF TOOLS

An elementary introduction to woodworking (by the author of At Experiments for Boys, Faster and Faster, etc.), this is a chapter by chapter description of the make up and uses of each of the principal tools for woodworking. Techniques discussed are sawing, planing, hammering and nailing, drilling and boring, and chiselling. Though not very complete, there is advice too on what to look for when buying tools of quality. The value of the book lies in its careful instructions for the development of skill in using each of the tools.
