JANEY AND THE SUMMER DANCE CAMP

For the Woody audience and young dance enthusiasts in general, this short short gives a satisfying eyeful of the summer activities at Ted Shawn's school at Jacob's Pillow. Janey, who lives nearby, is dying to get acquainted with some of the dancers and has the good fortune to get into a conversation with Ram Gopal, the famous Kathakali dancer, who teaches her some of the hand signs or mudras that he uses. Later during a performance Janey, alone in the wings, is able to make mudra signs to Mr. Gopal, watching from the audience, and thus avert the danger of a fire. A story about a real person, which also gives a concrete idea of a different kind of dance, this should fascinate any youngster with the interest.
