Mannered, sentimental tale of a benevolent despot who promises his dear little daughter to bring the stars into the valley and does so when he gives up his own electric plant. Particular appeal to the hand-crocheted tidies' ladies who think children are starry-eyed angels. Busoni's illustrations are as wide-eyed as the text -- and the whole creates a confusion of modern bombed post-war city and castle on a crag.
