Elephants as a means of livelihood form the background for this likeable story of a father and three young children in Siam. Unfamiliar material, entertainingly handled, with lots of adventure, with interesting side bits on elephant hunting and elephant herding. Three ill-fated expeditions in search of a prized white elephant, and in between various adventures with creatures of the wilds; experiences of getting lost in the jungle -- and finally success. Well paced story about a 14-year old boy, a girl of 12 and another boy of nine. Good entertainment.
