Subtitled ""A portrait"", this is exactly that -- a character sketch in a quiet, grave, drily amused English manner. Porlock is an eccentric; -- awkward, embarrassed, dumpy, with one outstanding trait, a constant, agitating fear. Here is his life in Greenwich village among odd circles, in company with Hunter and his friends, as he catches work here and there and eludes the fairer sex which terrifies him. A specialty item, but nicely done, with a certain insight and affection.
