Remy Charlip wrote and illustrated FortunateLy (p. 808-J-252, 1964), another book that, as this one does, suggests imitation after the text and pictures are seen. The title line is an old jump rope chant and to it, Mr. Charlip has appended a series of rhymes revealing why the boy was sick. He'd eaten everything in sight including furniture and machinery and the doctor removes all this one by one. The illustrations are cleverly conceived silhouettes in white and black on backgrounds of bold colors. It turns out to be the great shadow play favorite of nursing schools -- The Operation. The grossly swollen patient is show being relieved of a wild variety of improbably ingested items and kids always think that it's a lot of fun. It is. The book shows how and supplies narration suitable to a single voice, a chorus or vocal shadows.
