Uncle Como was an outlaw, an unknown hero, to Eric Chavegrand, a fifteen year old boy, who lived at Caribou Hill in the northern Canadian backwoods. Wanted by Joe Kling, a Mountie, for possession of diamonds which he was returning to Indians, Como appeared at Caribou Hill unexpectedly. Eric volunteers to act as decoy so that his uncle may recover from the wound which Eric has accidentally inflicted on him. Taking Como's dogs and sled, the boy sets northward to Alaska with the mountie in pursuit. Action becomes intricate and sometimes confusing as the boy and his uncle outwit the mountie. It is difficult too, to determine just how honest and worthwhile Uncle Como's code of ethics is. Rather disappointing -- not up to the standard of The 397th White Elephant.
