BUTCHER BIRD

Good melodrama and well-built ""atmosphere"" in a ""deep South"" story, which the Peterkin followers should like. A Negro story of the troubles that arise when Manboy marries a light-weight girl, who knows that trouble dogs her way. Their love seems on the path to conquering everything, when Manboy succumbs to the wiles of an insurance agent -- and then it is the girl who pays the price to save him. Well done.
