A companion volume to Drugs, Medicines and Man in which the Oxford University Professor Emeritus of Pharmacology continues his preeminently clinical discussion of various diseases, lines of investigation and, wherever possible, conclusions. Dr. Burn now discusses cancer, particularly of the mammary glands and rostate, and some of the biochemical evidence leading to the likelihood that the prime cause is viral""; smoking and cancer with the British statistics no different rom the recent report here; ulcers, high blood pressure, coronary disease, surgery t low temperatures, allergy and immunity, etc. There are a few mildly admonitory losing remarks on vitamins, alcohol and cigarettes, and tables and statistics throughout. Dr. Burn writes with sobriety, a professional virtue which may not ttract the more general reader without an initial interest in the subject.
