KIRKUS REVIEW

A rather extravagant but holding (for the nonce) story of Chuchito, bullfighter of great fame, and what would have been a tragic life if death in the afternoon had not intervened. From childhood on, Chuchito showed his ability with the bulls and as a youngster made a dramatic appearance in the bullring saving a matador's life. Then Mexico -- where he met a femme fatale, Lisa, a searing, destructive affair which could lead to nothing. Back in Spain he meets Estrella, his half-sister, and they fall in love without knowing of their blood tie, and fortunately he dies soon after in the bullring. Afficionado attitude toward bullfighting, which is good, but romance of the Gothic-impossible variety. More than readable, however, if you pick your customers.
