KIRKUS REVIEW

Jolly active pictures (by the author) that promise more, perhaps, than the text gives, but there's a ""Night-Before-Christmas"" lilt to the verse, and a rather original story of a hotel carpet that ran away with the idea of providing fitting welcome to visiting royalty, swirling through the town to the ferry in a mad flight that left officials and police and townsfolk gaping. Vocabulary level high for picture story book age, but on the margin for reading aloud.
