THE FAMILY GUIDE TO FINANCE

In spite of the reminiscent, all-purpose title, this is a very good book--vigilant, cautionary, and exhaustively analysed. After indicating the difference between what we need or desire (or are motivated into desiring), and pointing up the various deceptions in packaging, best buys, trading stamps, etc., this gets right down to long and implemented evaluations of the automobile you buy (how financed, insured), your house, easy credit, taxes, insurance, savings, investment, allocating one final chapter on the budget (at a low income level). On the whole aimed at the man who earns rather than the woman who presumably spends.
