Ever since they all started with Eve and Columbus, etc., Armour has vamped history in a disarming fashion, and even if that primitive was a peacenik, before long ""war and weaponry kept pace with other advances in civilization."" This is one of his little outline histories from the Persians who maintained a ""healthful state of conflict"" on to Alexander who anticipated Keats (""Booty is truth, truth booty"") through all the wars of modern times. The footnotes are obligatory and Mr. Armour's syllabus will prove triumphantly that the pun is mightier than the sword.
