L'Armour l'merrier, and this one's about women and Richard, or Richard on the run. Wife is adored, but: ""I love you from the bottom of my heart./(Two other girls are in the upper part.) ""There was the lass at high school, of astounding proportions, the vibrant subject of cabin-in-the-woods dreams of glory. There was the college girl who chattered interested observations when faced with a blank wall; another giantess who flipped a wounded Richard over one shoulder on a hiking trip. But marriage miraculously happened and the middle-aged bulk of the book has to do with the double dribbling of marital competition, plus Armour on his own fulfilling husbandly obligations: cocktail party eating procedures; shopping and money matters; withstanding wifely health and exercise ministrations. Bits of family history intrude (grandfather whose pugilistic defeat almost caused him to be built into the new library building) and of course poesy. Mr. Armour's usual undemanding rusk-and-milk variety, soothing, with, predictably, a chuckle a chapter.
