KIRKUS REVIEW

Companion book to Skookum and Sandy -- and good yarn spinning, in a story of two lumbermen and the mouse that saved their lives. A bit of the foolery and exaggeration of the folk tale, and perhaps a bit adult in its implications as to characteristics of the Scot and the Irishman. But there's enough fun and adventure, as the men fight the forest fire- and later save the nest of baby mice. Bennett has a better feel for illustrating his own stories than when he illustrates for others.
