THE COMPLETE CAT BOOK by Richard C. Smith

THE COMPLETE CAT BOOK

By

Publisher: Walker

This is a whole kit bag full of the odds and ends that seldom get attention in a book about cats. The more usual items are here too-- selection, training, and discipline of kittens; cat grooming and travel tips; disease symptoms and diet care; mating and breeding. But catnip to the true aelurophile, is the first chapter which is devoted to the legendary lore, recorded history and the laws concerning cats. (They were often tried, in witchy times, and made poor defendants.) There is a short, clear chapter about showing cats and the points on which the various breeds are judged. Concluding chapters are devoted to cats in prose and poetry, cats and artists, superstitions about cats and a long bibliography that only a cat-lover could love-- and probably will. An appendix reports anecdotes of famous cats and cats who belonged to the famous. Purrfectly delightful reading.
