KIRKUS REVIEW

Earle and Imrie's prescription for rejuvenating diet, exercise, and attitude has much in common with Berger's (above) but without the exaggerated claims and with greater emphasis on values, life goals, relationships, and general state of mind. They too go in for self-assessment quizzes, but theirs are longer and more complicated than Berger's and accompanied by detailed step-by-step guidance through the life changes they label the "five interventions." On balance, Earle and lmrie offer a more substantial and judicious program than Berger's or the Kronhausens' (below), but their many case studies, checklists, "stressotype" categories, and other paraphernalia could deter the uncommitted.
